Acting for Film vs. Theatre – It’s Not as Complex as You Think! By Sean Pratt Scores of books have been written on how acting for the camera is different from acting in the theatre. Many of them are filled with ideas which create the impression that the two somehow demand a special kind of method. This is a false notion that only confuses actors as they try to work in these two mediums. The real differences lie not in acting method but in technique. Here are three basic ideas on how to understand and approach working in front of the camera.
