For me, doing Extra work is like women having babies. It's amazing, it's exciting, it can be a very traumatic experience. The day of a long shoot u'll be saying to urself, I can't do this again; then a month goes by and U seem to forget the labor and do it all over again. I'm a firm believer that if you want to do a thing, surround urself with people doing that thing. "It's not a job ... it's an adventure"

Yes and no. Been there and done that for many years. Very long hours with extremely low pay. If you're just starting out, it may be worth it to take some background jobs just to have the experience. However, you should keep pursuing other work. I have been acting in the Maryland area for 20 years and I no longer take extra jobs that pay poorly.
